The Brits go Gaga

Of course, the talk is about the Brits, as in the 2010 Brit Awards, which took place yesterday at Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London. The ceremony was hosted by comedian Peter Kay, who is not very well-known on this side of the channel (as opposed to previous years’ hosts such as Russell Brand, members of the Osbourne family and Kylie Minogue). The big winner of the evening was Lady Gaga, who won three international awards (Best International Artist, Best International Female and Best International Album). This year’s holding of the Brits was the 30th, which led The Guardian to give their view of some of the tops and flops over the years. The most entertaining, in my humble opinion, was in 1996 when Oasis accepted the award for best video from the late Michael Hutchence (RIP) and Noel Gallagher said to him: “Has-beens shouldn’t present awards to gonna-bes”…
